Auto-renew
With auto-renew on, a rental extends by another period of the same length, at the price you originally paid, when it reaches its end date. The renewal is charged to your balance and shows up in your ledger as a rental line.
- Balance too low? The renewal doesn't happen and the rental expires at its end date. Nothing is charged.
- Change it any time while the rental is active, from the rental in Rentals, or through the API with
POST /api/v1/rentals/{id}and{"auto_renew": false}(ortrue).
Expiry
Without auto-renew, a rental simply ends at its end date. Expiring costs nothing, and there's nothing to refund.
Cancelling
You can cancel an active rental at any time. It ends immediately and the number is released.
| When you cancel | Refund |
|---|---|
| Within 10 minutes of renting and before any SMS has arrived | Full |
| After 10 minutes, or once any SMS has arrived | None |
Note
The refund window counts from when the rental first started, not from a renewal. Cancelling a renewed rental ends it without a refund.
Tip
Just want the rental to stop at the end of the period? Turn off auto-renew instead of cancelling — you keep the number until its end date.
